All flood victims have returned home, says MB

SHAH ALAM, Jan 1 — All of the evacuees in Selangor have returned home as the remaining temporary relief centres (PPS) in the state closed last night, says Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

“At 11.59pm tonight (last night), on the last day of 2021, all PPS in Selangor have closed, and the flood victims have returned home. Alhamdulillah (Thank God).

“Thank you to all the staff, volunteers, government agencies and non-governmental organisations for your help,” he said on Twitter today.

Yesterday, five PPS in Selangor had remained in operation, housing over 134 families of 479 flood victims.

The torrential rain from December 17 until 19 resulted in double the rainfall compared to the previous high of 180 millimetres, which caused severe flooding in several locations in Selangor.

Following the incident, all assets belonging to the state government and the Federal government, including firemen, police and army, were mobilised to help evacuate the victims and assist in distributing necessities
