SHAH ALAM, March 16 — Five districts in Selangor are expected to undergo thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains today morning, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)
In a warning issued at 6am on Facebook, MetMalaysia said the districts include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Kuala Langat and Sepang
The agency has also issued warnings of similar weather for other areas including Penang, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka.
Meanwhile, in other states similar bad weather is also predicted for Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak), Johor (Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Pontian and Johor Bahru) and Kelantan (Gua Musang).
MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
