Most of Selangor to undergo inclement weather until night — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, March 29 — Eight Selangor districts will experience strong winds, heavy rains and thunderstorms as the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) predicts it will last until tonight.

In a statement issued at 5.15pm, the agency said Selangor’s affected districts include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang. The weather will persist until 9pm.

“Other states and localities include the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory and the Putrajaya Federal Territory,” it said.

Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim) Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron and Lipis) and Negeri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah and Rembau) will also see inclement weather during this time.

Elsewhere MetMalaysia said strong weather in Melaka and Hulu Terengganu will last until 8pm tonight. Other states and localities include Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu) Penang (Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Selatan) Kelantan (Kuala Krai and Gua Musang) and Johor (Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru)

“In East Malaysia, inclement weather is expected to affect Sarawak’s areas including Serian, Betong (Betong), Sarikei (Pakan and Julau) dan Mukah (Dalat) while in Sabah it is Pantai Barat (Tuaran, Ranau and Kota Belud), Sandakan dan Kudat,” it said.

The agency issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
