KLANG, July 4 — The state government will set up a special council to plan the educational and business development of the Indian community before the tabling of the 2023 Selangor Budget.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the council will examine and find solutions to all issues raised by the community including on schools, technical and vocational education training (TVET) and entrepreneurship.
“I see the importance for us to look into this matter in depth. We no longer want to talk about dreams, but this is the time to plan for implementation.
“If everything goes well, this special council can be set up before the tabling of the 2023 Selangor Budget,” he said.
He said this at the Shaping a Malaysian Indian Development Narrative programme at the Wyndham Acmar Hotel here, last night.
The programme gathered 96 participants from 63 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and was also attended by Klang member of parliament Charles Santiago, Seremban MP Anthony Loke Siew Fook as well as Sentosa state assemblyman Dr G Gunaraj.
Meanwhile, Gunaraj said they would begin identifying suitable candidates to be members of the council so that issues plaguing the Indian community, especially the low-income families (B40) could be resolved.
“We will submit a working paper to him (Amirudin) on who and the number of members in the council apart from their role.
“For now we can start planning the budget needed to handle the programme following the results from our discussions with participants today (yesterday),” he said.
