Seven districts to face deluge until evening — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, Aug 29 — Nearly all of Selangor will experience heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms until this evening, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)

In a statement issued at 4pm, the agency said Selangor’s districts which will see strong weather include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat.

“Other states and territories which will be similarly affected include Kuala Lumpur, Gua Musang in Kelantan, Jelebu and Kuala Pilah in Negeri Sembilan, Johor (Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru) and Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub and Bentong)

“Kedah (Padang Terap, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu) and Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim) will also see inclement weather during this time,” it said.

In East Malaysia, Sarawak’s affected areas include Betong, Sarikei (Pakan and Julau) and Limbang. In Sabah it is Pedalaman (Sipitang, Kuala Penyu and Beaufort), Pantai Barat (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud) and Sandakan (Tongod, Telupid, Kinabatangan and Sandakan)

The weather is expected to persist until 7pm.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
