SHAH ALAM, Aug 17 — Three districts in Selangor are expected to undergo thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains until 11am today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a warning issued at 8.45am on Facebook, it said the districts include Klang, Kuala Langat, and Sepang.

MetMalaysia also forecasted similar weather patterns for other states and territories in Putrajaya, Melaka (Alor Gajah), Kedah (Kota Setar, Yan and Kuala Muda), Pulau Pinang (Seberang Perai), Negeri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson and Rembau) and Miri in Sarawak.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
