MB: Selangor records reserves of over RM3.4 bln, highest since 2012

HULU LANGAT, Sept 5 — The Selangor state reserves have exceeded RM3.4 billion as of August, which is the highest since 2012, says Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said throughout his tenure as Menteri Besar, he has managed to increase another RM1.3 billion of the reserves from RM2.1 billion in 2018.

“When I took over the office in 2018, the reserves were estimated around RM2.1 billion and with that amount, we continue administering the state despite facing various challenges.

“We have spent a lot for the people including the vaccination initiaitve, the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang programme and even so, we were still able to record the highest reserves ever, totalling RM3.4 billion since 2012,” he said when delivering his speech at the Kajang constituency Lantern Festival in Taman Rekreasi Bandar Mahkota Cheras, here last night.

In June, Amirudin said despite the state administration’s decision to implement many efforts t lessen the burden of the people, the state has stable reserves of more than RM3 billion.

He said the performance was on par with that of prior Menteri Besar leaderships despite Selangor being affected by various crises, including the Covid-19 pandemic and the major floods incident.
