SHAH ALAM, Nov 26 — The 2023 Selangor Budget will focus on employment opportunities, housing, environment, youth, women, and education, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the focus is on dealing with the anticipated economic recession next year, the geopolitical effects of the Russia – Ukraine war, and the disruption of the supply chain from China.

“We hope the efforts (encapsulated in the budget) will boost progress, continue excellence, strengthen the unity of the people, and realise the hopes in Selangor which are in line with the people’s aspirations,” Amirudin said.

He was speaking at the press conference following the tabling of the budget at the State Legislative Assembly yesterday.

The state government has allocated RM2.45 billion in the budget, as part of its preparations for the economic slowdown next year.

Under the theme ‘#KitaSelangor: Boosting Progress, Strengthening Unity, Fulfilling Hope‘, next year’s budget will focus on five main cores:

The strategies are to strengthen economic growth; nurture a united and compassionate society; education and development for future generations; sustainable and prosperous life; and efficient and responsible governance.
