Apple’s capitalisation adds US$191 bln in trading, sets record for US companies

MOSCOW, Nov 11 — US tech corporation Apple added over US$190.9 billion (RM883.39 billion) in market capitalisation, as its shares rose 8.9 per cent Thursday trading, setting a record for American companies, trading data showed.

Sputnik reported at the close of trading on Thursday, the price of the company’s shares jumped 8.9 per cent to US$146.87 (RM679.64). The company’s capitalisation amounted to US$2.336 trillion (RM10.81 trillion).

Apple’s increase in market value became the largest in the history of US-listed companies, according to media reports.

The stock market has soared in response to this data on annual inflation in the United States, which slowed to 7.7 per cent in October from 8.2 per cent in September.

Besides Apple, companies with a capitalisation above US$1 trillion include Saudi Aramco (US$2 trillion or RM9.25 trillion), Alphabet (US$1.2 trillion or RM5.55 trillion) and Microsoft (US$1.7 trillion or RM7.87 trillion).

Apple, founded in 1976, produces personal computers and tablets, audio players, phones, smartwatches and software.
