Stormy weather to hit over half of Selangor until 6pm — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, Nov 30 — Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang are expected to be hit with thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds until 6pm today, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a warning issued at 2.40pm on Facebook, the agency said that inclement weather is also anticipated throughout Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Penang, Melaka and Johor.

“Meanwhile, bad weather is also expected in Kedah (Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim), Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman), Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Jerantut, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin) and Negeri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau and Tampin).

“Similar weather conditions are forecasted for Sarawak: Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu (Sibu) and Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Daro, Matu and Dalat) as well as Sabah: Sandakan (Beluran) and Kudat,” it said.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding an hour for a single release.
