Free pneumococcal, influenza vaccines for senior citizens in Subang Jaya

By Diana Abd Wahab

SHAH ALAM, Dec 13 — Senior citizens aged 60 and above in Subang Jaya are entitled to free pneumococcal and influenza vaccination this Saturday.

Its state assemblyman Michelle Ng Mei Sze said a total of 1,000 vaccines doses will be provided during the Selcare Vaccination Programme, which is scheduled to take place at Pusat Komuniti JKP Zon 4 Dewan USJ 1, from 10am to 4pm.

“Since the allocated vaccines are limited, the targeted group is required to pre-register at https://bit.ly/sj_vaccine.

“Eligible applicants will then be notified via SMS,” she told SelangorKini.

Ng added the programme will be divided into five slots, to reduce waiting time.

Each slot will be held for one hour, with an estimated 200 senior citizens to receive their free vaccines.

On November 10, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced a RM1.5 million allocation to provide 10,000 free vaccine doses (5,000 doses for pneumococcal and influenza, respectively) to ensure the people’s health, especially those in high-risk groups, are taken care of.

He said the first phase of the programme began on November 13 and will run until December 31, targeting 5,000 individuals comprising senior citizens, those aged 60 and below, and those who at risk of being infected by diseases.
