In a warning issued at 12.30pm on Facebook, the agency said the affected districts include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang.

“Similar weather conditions are also anticipated throughout Perlis, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka.

“Other areas include Kedah (Langkawi and Kubang Pasu), Perak (Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak), Pahang (Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin) and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Kluang, Mersing and Kota Tinggi).

“Meanwhile in East malaysia, thunderstorms are forecasted for Sabah: Sandakan (Kinabatangan and Sandakan),” it said.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding an hour for a single release.
