Assemblyman adopts healthy culture, to organise ‘plogging’

By Shamz Johan

SHAH ALAM, Jan 5 — The Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng Mei Sze intends to organise leisure jogging while collecting garbage (plogging) with the local community.

She said the activity is popular in several developed countries such as Sweden, Spain, Australia and Japan which are known for their practice of keeping public places clean.

“In western countries, this activity (plogging) is very popular. It is good because apart from being able to be healthy, we can also keep our local areas clean,” She said in a Facebook post.

On January 3, Ng together with more than 50 members of the Luk Tung Kuen exercise community carried out a gotong-royong (communal cleaning activity) at the Subang Jaya Municipal Council Sports Ground at USJ 1, Subang Jaya.

“This is an initiative of the residents who care about local area and public facilities cleanliness. There is a plan for this activity to be done every week.

“I will discuss with the council to help prepare a store to keep the cleaning equipment,” she said.
