SHAH ALAM, March 14 — Bukit Gasing Community Service Centre will set up mobile counters on March 18 and 25 to facilitate elderly people in collecting Jom Shopping vouchers.
Its representative R. Rajiv said as many as 2,099 participants of the Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE) who have not yet taken the RM150 voucher can visit the facilities at Surau Flat Gasing Indah on March 18 and Cabin Resident Association (March 25).
“Since February, a total of 1,658 out of 3,757 senior citizens registered with SMUE have taken the RM150 voucher.
“We hope that the remaining 2,099 seniors who have not yet taken the vouchers will do so at the facilities provided,” he said, adding that the same facility is also available at the Bukit Gasing Community Service Centre service counters.
Rajiv said they also received 1,200 new SMUE applications this year and all of them are being processed to get approval from the state government.
SMUE was introduced more than a decade ago to appreciate the state’s elderlies with each member benefiting from birthday gift vouchers and death benefits.
Starting this year, the value of SMUE vouchers has increased to RM150 compared to RM100 before and the same amount is also given to participants of the Skim Mesra Insan Istimewa (SMIS) involving an allocation of RM37.5 million.
