NTW 2023 to raise awareness about importance of training, lifelong learning

PUTRAJAYA, April 17 — The National Training Week (NTW) 2023 will take place from May 22 to May 28 to increase awareness about the importance of training and foster a culture of lifelong learning among the people.

Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar said NTW was an innovative initiative that brings together organisations and individuals from various backgrounds and industries to experience extensive learning and development opportunities.

Led by the Human Resource Development Corp (HRDC), the NTW will be carried out by the Ministry of Human Resources (HRM), Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, as well as the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the private sector and non-profit organisations.

He said HRM expected the event to attract more than 5,000 trainers and collaborators who will deliver more than 5,000 training courses, train up to 125,000 participants and record more than 500,000 hours of training with an estimated cost worth more than RM250 million.

“NTW will be the main catalyst to cultivate the spirit of lifelong learning as a community culture,” Sivakumar said at the event’s pre-launch ceremony earlier today, which was also attended by Minister of Higher Education Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

Mohamed Khaled said throughout the NTW event, polytechnics and community colleges under the MOHE across the country will offer various free courses and short-term training to those interested.

“This initiative is a large-scale national movement to raise the interest and awareness of the people, especially regarding the importance of continuously improving personal skills,” he added.
