SHAH ALAM, May 27 — A total of 3,500 participants from all walks of life took part in the Unity Run event, at Taman Tasik Shah Alam earlier today.
State executive councillor for unity Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said the five-kilometre leisurely run was held in conjunction with the state-level Unity Week celebrations.
“This time, it is Selangor’s turn to organise the Unity Week, as advised by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“The event can also encourage people from multiple backgrounds to adopt a healthy and fit lifestyle,” she told SelangorKini.
Asides from running events, Unity Week in Selangor will also feature various programmes including performances, government agency exhibitions, product sales, unity picnics, among others.
The Unity Week celebration is one of the initiatives under the Civil Malaysia Unity Campaign, which will be celebrated throughout the country in the last week of May every year.
Running from May 20 to May 28, Unity Week 2023 will also be held in 15 other locations nationwide, including Dataran Bertam in Penang, Dewan Masyarakat Papar in Sabah, and Dataran Tasik Kluang in Johor.
