SHAH ALAM, July 9 — Kajang has allocated over RM1 million for the past five years to repair and upgrade the infrastructure of several schools in the state constituency.
Its incumbent state assemblyman Hee Loy Sian said the facilities, which have been upgraded since 2018, include toilets, roofs, classrooms, roads, and vehicle parking.
“We do provide assistance when schools make requests. Although we may not be able to fulfil all the requested allocations, we try to contribute a reasonable amount so as to help.
“The assistance provided includes allocations for repairing toilets, roofs, classrooms, constructing new classrooms, road infrastructure, and vehicle parking,” he said when contacted.
Hee added that for this year, over RM200,000 has been allocated.
“This is to ensure students can study comfortably, as there are schools that are decades old and require maintenance for various facilities and infrastructure.
“We have always welcomed school administrations to make requests if they need assistance, and we try to help as much as we can,” he said.
Yesterday, the state government announced RM26.5 million in aid has been distributed to 988 educational institutions of various streams, including national schools in Selangor, throughout this year, the highest in the past 14 years.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the initiative, which began in 2009, is aimed at providing a comfortable environment for both teachers and students.
