SHAH ALAM, July 9 — Upgrades and maintenance works to the banks of Sungai Langat have managed to successfully reduce the risk of flash floods in several areas within the Kajang state constituency.
Its incumbent state assemblyman Hee Loy Sian said in the period since the works have been carried out, no flash floods in the high-risk areas have recurred in the past year and a half.
“We raised the banks of Sungai Langat, to prevent water from overflowing into nearby neighbourhoods, which often resulted in flash floods,” he said when contacted.
Hee added that resolving the flash floods has been a top priority since he was entrusted with overseeing the affected area.
“Resolving the issue of flash floods is of utmost importance. We hope this development continues and can effectively address the risk of flash floods affecting residents,” he said.
Prior to this, the assemblyman had said the construction of embankments and concrete barriers along the banks of Sungai Langat, involving a RM1.2 million allocation, was carried out in four areas, including Taman Sri Langat, Taman Mahkota, Taman Pasir Mas, and Taman Bangi.
