AMPANG JAYA, July 1 – The Unity Government continues its unwavering commitment to tackle the prevailing economic and social challenges, despite facing a multitude of criticism, said Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
Amirudin, who is also the Gombak MP and Selangor Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) chief, said the government continues to work diligently to control inflation and ensure stable prices of goods, subsequently mitigating the effect of economic headwinds towards the public.
“Our careful approach has resulted in the lowest inflation rate in one and a half years. We have successfully managed the issue of egg and chicken supplies, ensuring it is sufficient during festive seasons like Aidilfitri and Aidiladha,” he said during the Ziarah Korban Aidiladha programme held at Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Sungai Pusu, here today.
Amirudin said the government is committed to strengthening the economy by presenting an economic plan in July or August.
Previously, proactive measures were taken by the Federal government to address inflation and its impact on the prices of essential goods.
Among them was the People’s Income Initiative (IPR), which was introduced to assist people in generating income and ensuring a steady supply of daily necessities.
To tackle the cost of living, the government also launched Menu Rahmah, offering affordable meals priced at no more than RM5.
The programme, carried out in collaboration with food business operators, aims to reduce the cost of living for the hardcore poor and is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to eradicate extreme poverty.
