JAKARTA, Sept 27 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari launched the Malaysia Pavilion at the Indonesia International Book Fair in Jakarta, Indonesia today, which aims to introduce Malaysian literature abroad.
“The pavilion is the best platform for us to introduce Malaysian literature to Indonesians.
“It also improves the existing intellectual efforts and cultural elements,” he said at the launch.
Also present at the launching ceremony were Malaysia Institute of Translation and Books (ITBM) chairman Noor Amin Ahmad, state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Najwan Halimi, and Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhammad.
Besides PPAS, other participants of the Malaysia Pavilion include Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim), the National Book Council of Malaysia (NBCM), Yayasan Karyawan, Penerbit Universiti Teknologi Mara, and several state libraries.
The fair is being held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition located at BSD-City in Tangerang, from today until October 1.
Other participating countries include Korea, China, and Thailand.
