SHAH ALAM, Sept 27 — Selangor residents facing rice supply shortage issues are urged to contact the Selangor Paddy and Rice Regulatory Authority (KSPDS) to file their complaints.
Mentri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, in a Facebook post today, said the unit will respond immediately within 24 hours after receiving the complaint.
“The state government has mobilised the initiative to help everyone and avoid panic buying,” he said.
To file the complaint, contact KSPDS at 03-32898419 or 017-2230771.
On September 21, Amirudin assured the public that the local white rice supply in Selangor would be sufficient until the end of this month amid concerns over shortages nationwide.
He said the supply will stabilise in October with the reproduction of rice paddy in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia and rice harvesting in Selangor.
The rice production capacity in Selangor is at 138,903.13 metric tonnes per year, harvested over 18,061.53 hectares of land and involving a total of 6,871 rice farmers.
This, Amirudin said, is equivalent to a production of 4.19 metric tonnes per hectare.
