KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 – Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd (Mydin) has become the first company to subscribe to the Wavpay e-wallet application that was developed by Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated)’s subsidiary Wavpay Fintech Holding Sdn Bhd.

Wavpay chairman Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said this initiative will encourage cashless transactions and digitalisation, besides enhancing the company’s corporate branding.

“Through this application, shopping will become easier for customers as they no longer need to carry along cash. In fact, they will enjoy various other benefits such as bonus points.

“The application allows subscribing companies to have its own trading identity. Building your own system can cause a lot of money, so this cooperation can ensure saving,” he said.

Earlier, Teng, who is for state executive councillor for investment, witnessed the signing of agreement between Wavpay Fintech Holding and Mydin, who was represented by its managing director Datuk Ameer Ali Mydin.

Meanwhile, Teng said several major firms have also expressed interest in utilising the Wavpay e-wallet application.

“A number of big companies, including supermarkets, want to use our service. We will make more announcements in the future.”
