GOMBAK, Nov 5 — More than 1,000 job opportunities were offered to the public through the Civil Tour organized by the Human Resources Ministry at Kampung Melayu Wira Damai in Batu Caves here today.
Human Resources Minister V Sivakumar said the third series of tours in collaboration with the Social Security Organization (Socso) involved the participation of 10 employers from various sectors.
He explained that the carnival is a continuous effort by the government to ensure that job seekers including the vulnerable in the state get job opportunities in various sectors.
“This is a valuable opportunity (for job seekers) to pursue their dream of getting a job that suits their respective skills. It is hoped that it will have a positive impact on employers and job seekers,” he said.
He spoke at the opening ceremony of the tour which was also attended by Dato’ Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and state executive councillor for Human Resources V Papparaidu.
Sivakumar also informed that a total of 314 of the 697 individuals who attended the interview through the previous two series of tours in Taman Sentosa, Klang and Pulau Sebang, Melaka succeeded in the second screening process.
In addition to SOCSO, the tour involves agencies such as HRD Corp, TalentCorp, the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Niosh) as well as the Skills Development Fund including the National Registration Department to provide services and enlightenment related to citizenship issues.
Employers involved include Harvey Norman, Prasarana, Senheng, Chicken Rice Shop, Red Contact Sdn Bhd, Maha Mas Medic Service Sdn Bhd and EliteTrax Marketing Sdn Bhd.
There will also be government agency exhibitions, health checks, and flower arrangement, aromatherapy candle and soap making as well as cake icing workshops.
