SHAH ALAM, Jan 16 — A total of 300 trees were planted around the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Amphitheatre in Shah Alam here in the Rhythmba Festival, which was held for the first time on January 12.
The Nature and Music Festival is organised by Prologue Agency, consisting of public relations students, UiTM Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, and Gadang Holdings Bhd as a corporate social responsibility (CSR) to the community.
The programme was inaugurated by state executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin to raise awareness about the importance of planting trees in line with the goals of sustainable development and the environmental impact.
“It also aims to upgrade the infrastructure of the Amphitheatre, which was abandoned for several years, to become the first ‘Taman Mesra Alam’ and thus the main attraction of UiTM Shah Alam,” she said.
The festival drew about 700 participants, including 22 orphans from the Al-Mahabbah Welfare and Education Organisation, who participated in tree planting, wall climbing, and other activities and games.
More than 15 local brands and food stalls gathered to support the programme, which included appearances by Teman Lelaki, Mohsein Kush, Raja Nazrin Shah and Fimie Don.
“This festival provides a fun and entertaining experience for all. The objective to breathe new life into the Amphitheatre and provide a greener and fresher environment was achieved.”
