Raja Permaisuri Agong appointed IIUM constitutional head for second term

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25 — Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah has been re-appointed as the Constitutional Head of the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) for another five years, effective Wednesday (January 31).

The second term re-appointment has been consented to by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

Tunku Azizah was first appointed as the Constitutional Head of the university in 2019.

“IIUM’s staff and students are very grateful and proud of the decision to re-appoint Tunku Azizah as its Constitutional Head for the second term.

“We are very honoured and happy with Tunku Azizah’s re-appointment because of Her Majesty’s love and concern for the people of various races at IIUM,” said the university’s rector Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak in a statement.

He believes Tunku Azizah’s re-appointment will push IIUM to achieve various international recognitions, especially in its role as an authoritative Islamic institution.

Dzulkifli said the IIUM staff and students will continue to advance the plans that have been prepared under Tunku Azizah’s auspices by taking advantage of Her Majesty’s experience and interests.
