SABAK BERNAM, Jan 10 — The state government is hosting tourism agents from Thailand on a tour of northern Selangor to promote the region to potential tourists from the land of white elephants.
State executive councillor for tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said the 40 agents from Hatyai, Songkhla and Betong will be brought to visit several attractions located in the northern corridor, specifically from Kuala Selangor to Sabak Bernam.
“The programme with the concept of agro- and eco-tourism will be held for three days and two nights, where we will take them to exciting locations like the paddy gallery, Pantai Redang, Sky Mirror and Firefly Conservation Centre.
“This is our opportunity to introduce Selangor to the Thais. We are confident our effort, held in collaboration with Tourism Selangor, will attract more tourists from there,” he said when welcoming the arrival of the tourist agents.
Ng said northern Selangor is also set to welcome tourist groups from China and India in the near future.
“For a start, we are focusing on the northern corridor before expanding our promotional campaign to the Royal City of Klang and Southern Selangor, involving Sepang and Kuala Langat.
“This is part of our Visit Selangor Year 2025 promotional efforts at the international level under the theme Splendid Selangor, Take Me Anywhere!” he said.
Previously, on September 13, Ng had said that the state government is set to declare 2025 as Visit Selangor Year to bolster the domestic tourism industry.
Ng said Selangor will begin preparing as early as next year, ahead of Putrajaya’s own Visit Malaysia Year, also planned for 2025.
