SHAH ALAM, May 9 — Selangor has received a contribution of RM971,172 from KAO Malaysia Sdn Bhd for its fight against dengue.

The company contributed 61,080 mosquito repelling serum units that will be distributed via dengue prevention programme.

The mock cheque was handed over by KAO Malaysia president Nishimaki Akira to state executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin during a collaboration ceremony at Bangunan Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah here today.

In her speech, Jamaliah said the state government welcomes cooperation from other parties, including KAO Malaysia, that want to help prevent the spread of dengue.

“Through this collaboration, I hope the local community can be more aware about public health and cleanliness to control the breeding of aedes mosquitoes.

“May this effort bring positive effects to Selangor residents, and support the state government’s efforts in making the state aedes-free in future,” she said.

Nishimaki Akira said the mosquito repelling serum will be distributed from July.

“In addition to being distributed during state-run prevention campaigns, the mosquito repelling serum will also be distributed in selected schools.

“This is part of a more effective strategy to improve public healthcare. Thank you to the Selangor government for its cooperation in efforts to reduce dengue cases,” he said.
