HULU SELANGOR, May 1 — The support from Malay voters for Pakatan Harapan’s Kuala Kubu Baharu candidate Pang Sock Tao has been very encouraging, said state coalition chairman Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Selangor Menteri Besar said since the start of the campaigning period for the by-election, the feedback received from the Malay community here has been positive.

He expressed confidence that this momentum will continue to increase ahead of the May 11 polling day.

“Today, we went to several Malay settlements. I believe the response towards the Unity Government candidate has been very good, although it is still too early (to say).

“We still have 10 more days of campaigning. Certainly, we have to work to ensure the victory of our candidate,” he said after attending the Batang Kali Youth Aidilfitri celebration at Bandar Baru Batang Kali, here, last night.

Also present were Pang, Batang Kali coordinator Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad and several party leaders.

In her speech, Pang said she felt confident and enthusiastic about representing Kuala Kubu Baharu in the State Legislative Assembly.

“It is an honour to work with the late Lee Kee Hiong’s team here. My confidence stems from this team, which has always been consistently supportive of me.

“If given the opportunity, I will work as a team to serve the people. Although I am still young and a woman, where there is a will, there is a way,” she said.

The Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election was triggered following the death of Lee, 58, on March 21 due to cancer.

The Election Commission has set polling day on May 11, with early voting on May 7.
