National footballer Faisal Halim attacked with acid

KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 — Selangor FC winger Faisal Halim suffered an acid attack believed to have occurred at a shopping mall in the Klang Valley today.

This was confirmed by Selangor FC team manager Mahfizul Rusydin Abdul Rashid when contacted by Bernama.

“I can confirm that this incident happened. God willing, tonight we will issue an official statement, but I cannot comment more than that,” he said.

Mahfizul declined to comment on the condition of the 26-year-old national footballer, fondly known as Mickey, as he did not have details.

The incident went viral on X.

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh posted on X condemning the attack and urging police to take immediate action.

Faisal is reportedly in stable condition and is being treated at a private hospital in Petaling Jaya.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said his force received news of the attack at 5.51pm.

“Those with information about the attack may contact the Petaling Jaya police headquarters operations room at 03-7966 2222,” he said in a statement today.

News of the acid attack on the Selangor FC player went viral earlier today.

It is understood Faisal was attacked after a go-karting session at a shopping mall in Kota Damansara.
