Angler drowns in Kg Padang Jawa floodgate

SHAH ALAM, June 7 — An angler drowned after he fell into a floodgate at Kampung Padang Jawa in Section 16 here, yesterday.

Shah Alam police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the 26-year-old man is believed to have slipped and fallen while trying to climb up after fishing with his friend at the edge of the location.

“Police received a call regarding the incident at around 5.49 pm about a search and rescue being carried out by 12 firefighters from the Section 15 Fire and Rescue Station.

“Around 7.15 pm, the victim’s body was found at a depth of 2.5 metres from the bottom of the floodgate, about 15 metres from where he fell in,” he said.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said firemen retrieved the body after a two-hour search.
