Lively atmosphere as Muslims nationwide celebrate Aidiladha

KUALA LUMPUR, June 17 — Across the country, Muslims came together to celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha with mosques filled with worshippers, including leaders and heads of state, reciting the takbir, praising the greatness of Allah SWT, and performing the prayers.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, joined over 20,000 congregants who performed Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Putra in Putrajaya.

They listened to the sermon titled ‘Aidiladha dan Kepedulian Sosial Kita’ delivered by the mosque’s Grand Imam Salahuddin Ghozali.

In the nation’s capital, worshippers, comprising locals and foreigners, performed the Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Negara, led by its Grand Imam Ehsan Mohd Husni.

In Selangor, the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah joined over 3,000 Muslims in performing their Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Tengku Ampuan Jemaah in Bukit Jelutong.

Also in attendance were the Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and the Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.

In Johor, the Regent of Johor Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sultan Ibrahim performed Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Pasir Pelangi Jamek in Johor Bahru, with his brothers Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar Al-Haj Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim, and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Sultan Ibrahim.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, state government executive council members, and senior government officials were also present.

In Penang, the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Penang Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak and his wife Toh Puan Khadijah Mohd Noor, performed Aidiladha prayers alongside over 2,000 Muslims at Masjid Negeri Pulau Pinang. They then performed the sacrificial rituals at the mosque’s compound.

The Yayasan Amal Tuan Yang Terutama (TYT) Yang Dipertua Negeri of Penang distributed 251 cows to 252 mosques and 25 surau under the foundation’s Korban Perdana Yayasan 2024 initiative, benefiting approximately 13,500 B40 recipients in the state.

Meanwhile, in Terengganu, residents of Kampung Banggol Chempedak in Serada near Kuala Terengganu made a difference by performing the Aidiladha prayers by the riverside in Dataran Banggol Chempedak this morning, in addition to bringing food to enjoy after the prayers.

Over 100 congregants, consisting of residents of the village and the surrounding area, performed the prayers in the area as the village surau’s new building is currently under construction.

In Negeri Sembilan, Masjid Sri Sendayan in Seremban became the focal point for Muslims performing Aidiladha prayers, attended by over 5,000 worshippers, including foreigners. The prayers were led by Imam Muhammad Anas Fikri Mohd Nasir, who then delivered a sermon titled ‘Kepatuhan Kepada Ilahi, Membentuk Kehambaan Hakiki’.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun also conveyed Aidiladha greetings to the people of Negeri Sembilan and hoped that the community would continue to remember the struggle and sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim and thus be inspired by his example.

In Melaka, Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka Tun Mohd Ali Rustam and his wife Toh Puan Asmah Abd Rahman arrived at 8.20am to perform the Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Al-Azim in Bukit Palah.

In Kedah, the Sultan of Kedah Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah performed the Aidiladha prayers with about 2,000 other congregants at Masjid Zahir in Alor Setar.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and the state government exco were also in attendance.

Meanwhile, in Perlis, Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli joined over 1,000 people and performed their Aidiladha prayers at Balai Islam Madi at Jejawi Dalam, Arau.

In Kelantan, the Sultan of Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V performed the Aidiladha prayers alongside thousands of worshippers at Masjid Al-Ismaili Mosque Tumpat.

In Pahang, the Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, accompanied by Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah and Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, performed their Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Negeri Pahang (Sultan Ahmad 1) in Kuantan, with over 1,000 congregants.

Meanwhile, in Perak, the Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah performed the Aidiladha prayers with 800 worshippers at Masjid Sultan Azlan Shah along Jalan Raja Musa Mahadi in Ipoh, and listened to a sermon entitled ‘Aidiladha: Pengorbanan Memupuk Sifat Ihsan’.

In Sarawak, Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sarawak Tun Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, as well as Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg and his wife Puan Sri Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, performed the Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Jamek in Kuching.

In Sabah, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor performed the Aidiladha prayers with about 500 congregants at Masjid Haji Noor in Serusup, Tuaran. He then attended the sacrificial rituals at the Tuaran district police headquarters.
