GOMBAK, June 5 — Shahman Jalaludin was sworn in as Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) president here today.
The ceremony was witnessed by his deputy Adi Faizal Ahmad Tarmizi, Gombak District Orang Besar Tan Sri Paduka Raja Wan Mahmood Pa’wan Teh, and MPS members at Menara MPS.
In a speech after taking his oath, Shahman said he will focus on MPS’ vision to achieve city status by 2030.
He added that he would focus on making Selayang a low-carbon, smart municipality.
Shahman said MPS will ensure objectives of the First Selangor Plan towards a smart, liveable and prosperous state are fulfilled.
The 45-year-old, who was previously a Klang district officer, replaces Dato’ Mohd Yazid Sairi, who was appointed assistant secretary (management) to the Selangor government on March 1.
On a separate matter, Shahman said he will resolve issues of domestic waste and infrastructure such as damaged roads and faulty street lights within 100 days of his appointment.
He also aims to improve service delivery to the public through digitalisation.
“These are among my priorities for my first 100 days. We will also implement several short- and long-term plans involving MPS’ top management and council members.
“I will focus on critical locations. God willing, MPS will address all arising issues, effectively reducing the number of complaints lodged by the public.”
Shahman said MPS will redouble efforts to encourage the public to use its online services.
“Various services are offered online, including the MyMPS portal, e-Lesen application, and assessment tax digital billing.
“As of May 31, the MyMPS portal recorded 151,713 visitors, with transaction values amounting to RM132 million. It is my goal to keep this momentum going,” he said.
