Selangor sultan grants audience to Fahmi Fadzil

SHAH ALAM, June 28 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj yesterday granted Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil an audience at Istana Bukit Kayangan here.

The audience was held for Fahmi to present the sultan with the instrument of royal invitation to the coronation of the King of Malaysia, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, scheduled for July 20 at Istana Negara.

Fahmi is chairman of the Special Committee for the King’s Coronation.

Sultan Ibrahim took the oath as 17th King of Malaysia on January 31.

On May 16, Fahmi reportedly said that the government, with His Majesty’s consent, will organise several events in conjunction with the coronation.

Among events lined up for the coronation are a yasin recital and doa selamat at Masjid Negara, Their Majesties the King and Queen’s visit to the Orang Asli Hospital in Gombak, and the Raja Kita exhibition at the National Museum.
