SEPANG, July 31 — Nearly 2,000 local entrepreneurs have benefited from the Selangor 1000 Digital programme introduced by the state government in May to expand their businesses through digital transformation.

State executive councillor for entrepreneurship, youth, and sports Mohd Najwan Halimi said the programme, now in its third series, continues to receive positive responses, particularly from young entrepreneurs who wish to elevate their businesses to a higher level.

“The presence of entrepreneurs in Sepang recorded the highest number at 831 compared to the previous series in Petaling with more than 600 and Sabak Bernam with approximately 200 individuals.

“This is part of the state government’s initiative to empower young entrepreneurs by providing exposure to current methods and ecosystem changes.

“Through digitalisation exposure, entrepreneurs can use technology to showcase their products, and they can also seek advice from industry players we bring to this programme,” he said.

Speaking to the press at the programme’s launch for the Sepang district today, Najwan added that two more series will be held in Hulu Langat and Gombak in September.

“The programme is the best platform for these entrepreneurs to receive good cooperation from various parties including Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI and the local authorities.

“In addition to continuing this programme series, we also plan to hold training focusing on entrepreneurs involved in online platform businesses,” he said.

Meanwhile, Housing and Local Government Deputy Minister cum Sepang MP Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu described the efforts taken by the Selangor government as timely and proactive in helping entrepreneurs become more aware of digitalisation.

“Through this programme, entrepreneurs can enhance their knowledge in digitalisation, ensuring they are not left behind in technology.

“I fully support the state government’s efforts, and am ready to collaborate with all parties in helping entrepreneurs grow their businesses,” she said.

In May, the state government introduced the Selangor 1000 Digital programme to expand digital transformation among local entrepreneurs.

Launched by Najwan, the programme toured five districts starting in Petaling, followed by Sabak Bernam, Sepang, Hulu Langat, and Gombak.

In addition to MBI, the programme also collaborated with the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation, the Selangor State Economic Planning Unit, and the Selangor Platform.
