By Suhaila Shahrul Annuar

KUALA LANGAT, July 14 — The state government has allocated RM706,305 for agricultural incentives, which have thus far benefitted 65 recipients.

The state executive councillor for housing and culture Borhan Aman Shah officiated the presentation ceremony, which covered various development projects. It was held at Dataran Pantai Batu Laut yesterday in conjunction with the Agrogreen Carnival and Low Carbon Day@Kuala Langat.

The incentives include development projects for cash crops, fruit crops, vegetables, and fertigation technology.

They also encompass livestock development projects, capacity enhancement matching grants, and downstream agricultural product development, which includes premises upgrades, branding, and packaging.

One of the recipients, frozen food trader Hassmira Che Omar, 36, said the RM20,000 incentive for branding and packaging she received will help her expand her product market.

“This gives me the opportunity to improve in terms of packaging because packaging is also important when entering large supermarkets.

“Currently, sales have expanded to outlets at several Petronas petrol stations, and with this incentive, I hope my dream of seeing my product in a wider market will be achieved,” she said.

During the event, Borhan, who is also Tanjong Sepat’s state assemblyman, also officiated the carnival and the Low Carbon Day@Kuala Langat, which runs for two days until today.

Its various activities include agricultural exhibitions, basic agriculture and landscape briefings, food security initiatives, and activities based on low-carbon initiatives.

Also organised were beach clean-up activities, urban picnics, agricultural goods sales, and a petting zoo.
