Selangor speaker has yet to decide on Selat Klang assemblyman’s status

SHAH ALAM, July 3 — The Selangor State Legislative Assembly has not decided on the status of Selat Klang assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari, who was dismissed from Bersatu.

Speaker Lau Weng San said his team will study documents and notices, handed over by Selangor Bersatu chairman Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali on June 21, before making a decision.

“There has not been a certain decision we can bring to an assembly session,” he said when contacted by Selangorkini.

Previously, Azmin sent a notice for the Selat Klang seat to be vacated after Rashid expressed support for Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

Rashid was stripped of his Bersatu membership after failing to reply to a written order from the Bersatu supreme council to pledge allegiance to the party.

On June 26, Rashid said he will attend assembly sessions as usual and expects the decision on his status to be made during one such sitting.
