SHAH ALAM, Aug 25 — Minggu Saham Amanah Malaysia (MSAM) serves as a financial literacy guide for the people, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said.
He said the exhibit not only offers investment products, but encompasses various financial fields.
“The awareness of financial management, I think, is highly necessary, specifically to face the modern challenges of today.”
He said if the people do not use shrewd financial management, they may accrue serious debt.
“This is a major issue because we do not want the youth especially to be caught in financial traps caused by inordinate consumption,” he said when met at the MSAM closing ceremony at Setia City Convention Centre here today.
Meanwhile, Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) group chairman Raja Tan Sri Arshad Raja Tun Uda said MSAM has successfully drawn over 100,000 visitors nationwide during its four-day run.
“This is a positive development and it helps PNB’s efforts to produce more people, especially in the younger generation, who are investment-aware.
“In keeping with the MSAM theme, I hope visitors can take home knowledge and useful experience,” he said.
MSAM was held over four days since Thursday, with various engaging activities to draw participation from all segments of society.
Besides the usual activities on financial literacy and knowledge sharing, there were also Festival Muzik Mini, Karnival Makanan Mini (Maybank Islamic MAE-Dan Selera) and Festival Auto.
Around 50 exhibitors, among them PNB Group firms, Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd agents, regulatory bodies and state government agencies, hosted activities and investment education booths during MSAM.
