KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 — Malaysia have been drawn into Group C alongside China and Laos for the premier men’s team event at the 37th Thai King’s Cup Sepak Takraw World Championship, which will be held in Korat next month.
The draw, conducted in Bangkok today, saw the host and defending champions Thailand placed in Group A, where they will face India and Japan.
Group B consists of Myanmar, Cambodia, and Brunei, while Group D comprises South Korea, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
In the premier women’s team event, the national squad will face Thailand, China, and Myanmar in Group A, while Group B consists of Vietnam, South Korea, Cambodia, Japan, and India.
Meanwhile, the national team will compete against India, China, Singapore, and Brunei in the premier men’s regu event.
For the premier mixed quadrant event, Malaysia has been drawn into Group A with India, Laos, and Vietnam, while Group B features Japan, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Thailand.
Malaysia, which is only sending a women’s squad for the quadrant event, will face Vietnam, Laos, China, and Cambodia in Group A for the premier event, while Group B comprises Myanmar, India, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand.
The tournament, which runs from September 1 to September 8, has attracted a record-high number of 555 players, comprising 341 men and 214 women.
