ACL 2: Selangor FC hold Muangthong United FC in Group H Opener

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 — Selangor FC began their Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League 2 (ACL 2) campaign with a 1-1 away draw against Thailand’s Muangthong United FC in Group H today.

Both teams failed to break the deadlock in the first half of the match played at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok.

However, the Red Giants drew first blood just two minutes after the restart through Ronnier Fernandez.

Stunned, the home team piled on the pressure to equalise through Purachet Thodsanit in the 54th minute.

Selangor, under the guidance of coach Mohd Nidzam Jamil, will take on Cebu FC of the Philippines in their second Group H match at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium on October 3.
