SUBANG JAYA, Sept 5 — Selangor aims to draw over eight million domestic and international tourists to the state during Visit Selangor Year 2025.
State executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said the goal was based on various offerings prepared specifically for tourists, which will bring positive impact to industry players.
“Tourist arrivals will bring Malaysia an economic boost, particularly Selangor. The tourism sector is seen as able to affect the economy in a shorter term, compared with investments, which would take two to three years,” Ng said.
When met after his working visit to Farm in the City in Seri Kembangan today, he encouraged industry players to keep learning about and promoting their products to keep their businesses flourishing.
Ng said the state government is assisting tourism operators by providing them with a platform so local industry players can develop ties with other countries.
“Tourism Selangor and Malaysia are always collaborating to bring industry players outside the country so they can form good relationships with each other.
“If they go solo without cooperating with the government, it could be difficult, so we help by availing various platforms, including by bringing industry players to foreign tourism programmes,” he said.
Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari launched advertisements for Visit Selangor Year 2025 on the back panels of Smart Selangor buses.
The advertising campaign, launched to the tune of RM250,000, involves promotions for the state’s nine districts, with the backing of five local authorities.
