SHAH ALAM, Sept 30 — Tourism Selangor is ramping up efforts to promote its upcoming Visit Selangor Year 2025 campaign, with a series of soft launches planned in the coming months.

The full launch of the highly anticipated campaign is set for December, with the state targeting eight million tourists next year, said Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Azrul Shah Mohamad.

He said the campaign will include various promotional activities aimed at both domestic and international markets.

“We are balancing our efforts between attracting local and international tourists through major expos such as the International Tourism Exchange in Berlin and Arabian Travel Market in Dubai,” he said on SelangorTV’s Hai Selangor programme today.

The Visit Selangor Year 2025’s grand unveiling in December is set to feature the state’s tourism calendar, official campaign mascot and an accompanying theme song.

Azrul said the Tourism Selangor will also engage with key opinion leaders as well as influencers from all levels of society to draw traction to the campaign.

He added that the campaign will focus on eco-tourism and agro-tourism, particularly in the northern and southern regions of Selangor.

“From Sepang’s dragon fruit plantations to Bukit Melawati and the fireflies of Kampung Kuantan, we are putting a spotlight on our nature-rich destinations.”

According to Azrul, agro-tourism will be a key draw in Sekinchan and Sungai Besar, while outdoor enthusiasts can look forward to white-water rafting in Kuala Kubu Bharu and paragliding in Hulu Selangor.

Other key attractions include Hulu Langat’s waterfalls and Kuala Langat’s Paya Indah Wetlands and SplashMania Waterpark.

Additionally, Azrul said the cultural experience of the Mah Meri Orang Asli village and the natural wonder of the Sky Mirror in Kuala Selangor are also set to be key highlights during Visit Selangor Year 2025.

With the rich array of attractions in the state, Azrul said Tourism Selangor’s strategy is to strike a balance between promoting popular destinations and unveiling hidden gems.

“While people may know about spots like Sepang and Klang, we want to encourage the exploration of lesser-known areas, such as the Ampang recreational forest.”

Azrul said proper infrastructure is essential in ensuring visitors have a positive experience. In view of this, the state will provide financial support to all 12 local councils to ensure they are upgraded and maintained.

“The state government, through local councils, is continuously upgrading facilities, from roads to public amenities like toilets, to support the growing number of tourists.”

Meanwhile, Azrul said Tourism Selangor will retain the ‘Pusing Selangor Dulu’ slogan for its domestic promotional campaign, while the tagline ‘Splendid Selangor: Take Me Anywhere’ will be used to attract international tourists.

In 2023, Selangor emerged as the most visited state, attracting 27.6 million domestic visitors
