SHAH ALAM, Oct 23 — The Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, has hailed the recently tabled Federal budget as a crucial catalyst for advancing the state’s transformative agenda in digital innovation, sustainability and human capital excellence.
Its chief executive officer Saipolyazan M Yusop said the Budget 2025 perfectly aligns with Selangor’s ambitious vision as Malaysia’s economic powerhouse and establishes a robust foundation for sustainable growth.
“MBI is exceptionally encouraged by the budget’s transformative elements,” he said in a statement issued by the state subsidiary today.
Among other things, Saipolyazan said the budget’s bold commitment to sustainable development, including the RM300 million allocation for the National Energy Transition Facilitation Fund, mirrors Selangor’s aggressive pursuit of green technology and renewable energy excellence.
“This strategic alignment amplifies the state’s pioneering initiatives, particularly our substantial RM305 million investments in upgrading Air Selangor Sdn Bhd’s infrastructures.”
He said the RM1 billion National Fund-of-Funds represents a game-changing opportunity for Selangor’s dynamic startup ecosystem, and complements the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation, which has already empowered over 200 startups since 2019.
Today, Selangor is home to 47 per cent of Malaysian startups and 19.8 per cent of total small and medium enterprises.
Saipolyazan said the RM7.5 billion allocation for technical and vocational education and training (TVET) marks a decisive step in strengthening Selangor’s dominance in technical education and workforce development.
“Universiti Selangor’s inclusion in the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN) fortifies our comprehensive TVET ecosystem, exemplified by the remarkable success of our Selangor Technical Development Centre (STDC).
“With over 6,000 STDC graduates now driving innovation across industries and entrepreneurship, this powerful combination of Federal support and proven state excellence positions us to revolutionise technical education and workforce development.”
In addition, Saipolyazan said the RM10 million allocation to the National Artificial Intelligence Office resonates with Selangor’s smart state initiative.
He added that the collaboration between Federal and state initiatives promises to provide “unprecedented support” to society.
“As Selangor’s economic dominance continues to drive Malaysia’s growth, MBI pledges its unequivocal support to the Federal government in implementing Budget 2025.
“We stand ready to forge powerful partnerships with Federal agencies and ministries. Together, we will transform Budget 2025’s vision into concrete achievements that will propel Selangor and Malaysia to new heights on the global economic stage,” he said.
