GISBH screened terrorist, militant videos to children, exco reveals

By Norrasyidah Arshad

KLANG, Oct 12 — Children living under the care of GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) were exposed to militant group propaganda videos, state executive councillor for Islam Dr Fahmi Ngah said in a shocking revelation today.

He said he was informed by the police that the children were shown videos such as those from terrorist groups like the Islamic State (IS), which are available on YouTube.

“This is according to the police. When asked if they had watched YouTube, the children said they had. They watched Rambo or IS. Just imagine the danger if they were watching IS videos.

“This is not the true principle of jihad. So, this is our challenge — to re-educate them. These children are intelligent, they can recite the Quran and read well, but we need to correct everything,” he said in his speech at the Kolej Hafiz convocation ceremony here today.

Last month, the police and religious authorities uncovered the criminal activities of GISBH, leading to the arrest of its top leadership along with 108 members in the state.

Following this, the State Fatwa Committee meeting decided that GISBH members and their affiliates were still practising Aurad Muhammadiah, the grand chant introduced by Al-Arqam, which was banned in the 1990s.

The committee had said that GISBH’s beliefs and practices deviated from true Islamic teachings according to the Sunni doctrine, in terms of faith and religious law.

The Selangor Islamic Religious Department also revealed that the group’s teachings deviated from true Islamic faith and were misleading.

These deviations include excessive veneration of leaders, the practice of polygamy, and elements of syirik (associating others with God), which were inherited from Al-Arqam.

It was also found that there were beliefs surrounding the resurrection of Al-Arqam’s deceased leader, as well as deviations in faith related to the anticipated emergence of Imam Mahdi, which were associated with the movement.
