KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended a RM50,000 donation to refurbish the facilities of the House of the National Association of Writers (Pena), as a sign of the government’s support for efforts to elevate writing and national literature.
He said the donation was presented by his political secretary Ahmad Farhan Fauzi, who met with Pena representatives on his behalf recently, to discuss efforts to uplift the nation’s writing and literary landscape.
The meeting was a follow-up to the dialogue session Anwar had with seven national laureates in June, which sparked numerous insightful ideas related to the empowerment of arts, culture, and literature in Malaysia.
“InsyaAllah, the outcome of this discussion and donation will help Pena continue to play a vital role in nurturing talent, preserving intellectualism and empowering the voices of local writers.
“This is also part of the efforts to turn the House of Pena as a central hub for literary, language and cultural activities,” he said in a Facebook post today.
