SHAH ALAM, Oct 2 — Selangor has accepted the federal government’s challenge to accomplish goals detailed in the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state will face various challenges, including the use of current technology and socio-economic issues.
“We must be aware and understand the big challenges we must face. There are several, among which is our ability to adapt with technology,” he said during the dialogue session on the 13th Malaysia Plan at the Shah Alam City Council Convention Centre here yesterday.
The session, organised by the Economy Ministry, was attended by Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli and State Secretary Dato’ Haris Kasim, assemblymen, state agency representatives, community leaders, and stakeholders.
Rafizi in his speech challenged Selangor and other states to start their economic plans with big aspirations, while backing the federal government’s efforts to realise the 13MP.
Amirudin added that global geopolitical uncertainties are among challenges the nation must face, other than the ageing population and the people’s mindset shifts.
Selangor is the first state in the 13MP engagement tour, which aims to gather creative ideas from all segments of society.
The 13MP is set to be completed in six to seven months, before it is tabled at Parliament in July 2025.
