KLANG, Oct 26 — The Selangor government has logged revenue collection of RM2.218 billion as of this month, exceeding its early target of RM2.2 billion, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said the excellent result is thanks to the state’s economic investment environment, which has shown progress involving the opening of several new areas, and development entering Selangor.
“This is our fourth year exceeding the target, as we collected RM2.7 billion last year, RM2.5 billion the year before that, and RM2.3 billion the year before that.
“Maybe in these next two months, we can collect a lot more, but we are waiting as part of it involves land issues … sometimes they pay premiums while some pay the next year,” he said when met after the Selangor Deepavali celebration here today.
Amirudin expressed optimism that Selangor will achieve its incoming investment value target of RM55 billion by year-end, as the current value is at RM35 billion.
“It is the consistency … Every year we are in the top three (contributors to the Gross Domestic Product), and it shows the investment ecosystem in this state is among the best in Malaysia,” he said.
The Menteri Besar added that the state government, through the Jom Shopping Festival Voucher aid programme, has allocated RM4.4 million for the scheme, with 22,000 vouchers distributed to members of the Indian B40 community to ease their burdens ahead of the Deepavali season this year.
