SEPANG, Oct 16 — The state government aims to strengthen the tourism industry through the upcoming budget to ensure the success of Visit Selangor Year 2025 (TMS2025).

State executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said various initiatives will be introduced to invigorate tourism activities, with the goal of attracting over eight million visitors.

“I am confident the Menteri Besar (Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari) will introduce solid initiatives in the upcoming budget to ensure the campaign’s success,” he said.

Ng said this in a press conference to promote TMS2025 in conjunction with the MotoGP 2025 championship at the Sepang International Circuit media centre here yesterday.

He added that the state government will review findings from the 2025 Selangor State Budget dialogue sessions held with stakeholders to enhance the local tourism industry.

“Findings from these engagement sessions are crucial as Selangor aims to maintain its momentum as a leading example and pioneer in the tourism industry in Malaysia,” he said.

Previously, the state administration had set a target of attracting more than eight million domestic and international tourists to Selangor next year and offering over 60 programmes as part of TMS2025.

To boost the campaign, Selangor will be hosting the Sawah Padi Carnival in Sabak Bernam next month, featuring a variety of activities, including water sports.

TMS2025 will be launched with the New Year’s Eve celebration on December 31, to be officiated by Amirudin.
