SHAH ALAM, Oct 29 — The state-initiated Ehsan Mart supermarket has quickly become a crowd favourite since the opening of its first outlet at Dataran Selayang in Gombak last month.

The Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation’s chief executive officer Datuk Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi said that in addition to offering a variety of products, the supermarket also hosts the Jualan Ehsan Rahmah (JER) affordable sales programme on weekends.

“Customers appear to be more at ease shopping here (at Ehsan Mart), including during the JER programme on Saturdays and Sundays.

“With its spacious layout, the supermarket makes it easy for customers to browse for items, and the environment is also comfortable,” he said.

Khairil added that the supermarket has hosted JER eight times in October alone, with almost all products on offer being sold out within two hours.

Meanwhile, he said the daily JER initiative held in various locations across the state since 2022 will continue as usual due to popular demand.

On September 8, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari launched the first Ehsan Mart supermarket, offering essential goods at prices up to 15 percent lower than the prevailing market rates.

He said Selangor intends to open up at least one Ehsan Mart in all 56 state constituencies, adding that the initiative is a continuation of the JER programme.

As of September, JER has been organised in over 4,000 locations throughout the state, with RM58.7 million in total subsidy expenditure.
