KUALA LUMPUR, NOV 29: The public is urged to register 10 qualified individuals as new voters for the upcoming 14th General Elections (GE14).
BERSIH 2.0 Chairman Maria Chin Abdullah said BERSIH 2.0 will also ensure that GE14 is conducted in a clean and fair manner compared to previous general elections.
“I hope we can cooperate till GE14 by registering even more voters so that they can vote during GE14.
“I hope all of you can bring 10 new people to register and vote in GE14 and BERSIH 2.0 promises to ensure that GE14 is run well,” she said at Merdeka Square on November 28.
Maria said that various things can be changed including the abolishment of the draconian act, Security Offenses (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA).
Touching on her release after being detained for 11 days under SOSMA, Maria believed that she was freed because of the rakyat’s pressure against the detention, including nightly vigils at Merdeka Square.
“Thank you for your support. If it wasn’t for all of you, I would not have been released,” she said.
