Highest recovery recorded at 108; total 2,908 Covid-19 cases

SHAH ALAM, April 1 — The highest number of recovery from Covid-19 was recorded as of noon today, with a total of 108 cases.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brings the total number of recovery to 645, or 22.2 per cent out of the total number of cases.

He said there was an increase of 142 new positive Covid-19 cases recorded as of noon today, bringing the total to 2,908.

“A total of 102 positive Covid-19 cases are still being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 66 of them require respiratory aid,” he told the media today in a broadcasted daily briefing on Covid-19 at the Health Ministry in Putrajaya, today.

Datuk Dr Noor Hisham said there were two Covid-19 fatalities, bringing the death toll in the country to 45, or 1.55 per cent out of the total number of cases.

The reported two deaths are as follow:

  • Case 193: An 80-year-old Malaysian woman, who had a history of diabetes, high blood pressure and heart problems. She was a close contact to a positive Covid-19 case (case 115) and had received treatment at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital from March 13. She was pronounced dead on March 31 at 4.30 am.
  • Case 1,053: A 62-year-old Malaysian man with a history of diabetes and high blood pressure. He was a close contact to a positive Covid-19 cases (case 486) and had received treatment at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital from March 17. He was pronounced dead on March 31 at 10.46 pm.
